Solar Decathlon China

Jul 27, 2011

On behalf of the China National Energy Administration (NEA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Peking University (PKU), the Solar Decathlon China (SD China) Organizing Committee would like to extend an invitation to your UNIVERSITY to participate in the SD China 2013 competition.

With support from both the Chinese President Hu and the U.S. President Obama, SD China aims to promote international collaboration within the clean energy field and to facilitate the innovation, development and application of solar energy and energy efficiency technologies.

The SD China competition is based on the U.S. Department of Energy’s award-winning Solar Decathlon (SD) program, which challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. Resulting homes demonstrate to students, the public and industry, that solar-powered houses are fully functional, comfortable and sustainable living spaces. Since the launch of SD in 2002, five competitions have been hosted in the U.S. and Europe, involving over 100 collegiate teams. Information about previous competitions can be found at their respective websites: www.solardecathlon.org and www.sdeurope.org.

For more information about how UNIVERSITY can participate in SD China, please find the attached Request for Proposals (RFP), outlining the program timeline, requirements and resources available for each team. This information can also be found on the SD China website:  click to download

The due date for proposal submission is October 15, 2011, at 4:00pm Beijing time. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

SD China Organizing Committee
