Chongqing University

Chongqing University (CQU) is a famous comprehensive key university in China, directly under the State Ministry of Education. It is also one of the first universities admitted to the State Project 211 and 985 Project, which are aimed at the construction of high-level universities in China.

Chongqing University was founded in 1929. In 2000, Chongqing University was merged with Chongqing Architecture University and Chongqing Architectural College, forming a new Chongqing University. The new university runs 24 schools or colleges, plus a graduate school, a college of continuing education, a city college of science & technology, and a college of long distance education. It now has a total enrollment of over 57, 000 students, including 12, 000 postgradaute students and 28, 000 undergraduate students. The university has 4 campuses, covering a total area of 378 hectares.

The university has established cooperative links with 32 institutions of higher education in 13 countries or regions. Since 1998, Chongqing University has been one of the universities to accept Chinese Government Scholarship students. It has more than 140 international studnets for undergradaute, postgradaute programs, and Chinese language programs. In order to attract and encourage international students to study at CQU, the university provides international studentswith a free basic medical insurance and sets up a Scholarship for distinguished international students.

Programs for International Students

Chongqing University offers a wide range of programs in science, engineering, law, management, education, libaral arts, pharmacy, Agriculture, and philosophy. There are 75 undergraduate programs, 182 master's programs and 60 doctoral programs available to both domestic and international studnets. Some programs can be bilingually instructed.
