Academic staff/research exchange and staff training

This is a traditional cooperation form between institutions. It is happy to see that some Dutch universities have realized the value of western China market and tried to get in touch with institutions in this area. The representatives are Twente University, Delft University, Eindhoven University of Technology and Van Hall Institute. The former three build academic connection with institutions in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. Van Hall Institute has helped Sichuan Agricultural University to train their lecturers. This kind of cooperation is beneficial for researchers in both sides to become more open-minded and stimulating scientific innovation. Furthermore, attractive scholarship program is available, offered by Dutch government to financially support this kind of cooperation. One example is the Netherlands Fellowship Programs (NFP), which are demand-driven fellowship programs designed to foster capacity building within organizations in 57 developing countries by providing training and education to their mid-career staff members. On Chinese sides, 5 scholarship programs provided by Chinese government are available to sponsor international students to study in China. Besides, China Scholarship Council (CSC) has a special program which aims to financially support high-quality people in west part of China to study abroad. This special program covers 12 provinces and regions in western China and annually around 600 people will be sponsored to study abroad.
