During the past 2 years, Neso China has successfully organized four pre-departure seminars in both Beijing and Shanghai.
During those pre-departure seminars, a large amount of valuable and practical information is being provided to students who are going to study in the Netherlands. The annual Neso Pre-departure Seminar provides not only a communication platform for prospect students but also a good opportunity for face-to-face discussions between students and Neso officers.
The special point for this year is that NANC provided a joint force to the seminars in both Beijing and Shanghai. These two seminars were successfully organized with great support from NANC alumni. NANC alumni supporters did presentations regarding student life and study in the Netherland as well as career development after graduation.
In order to give more first-hand information to the new students, and with a request from Consul General in Shanghai, an alumni dinner reception, the so-called ‘NANC Orange Dinner’ was arranged in Shanghai on the same day in combination with the SH pre-departure seminar. In doing so, new students have a best chance talking to their fellow alumni and Holland-returned NANC alumni. After all, this dinner event is with attention of providing a better platform for better information sharing and experience exchange.
New students and all NANC alumni were warmly invited, and more than hundred people participated in this dinner event. Mr. Erik Verwaal, consul general in Shanghai kindly delivered a short opening speech, following up by a welcome speech from Mr. Jacques van vliet, director of Neso China. NANC alumni played a very active role as the information consultant, they exchanged their study and life experiences with the students; and answered the questions from the parents concerning about every aspects of student life in the Netherlands.
Local business communities also showed a great interest in taking a part in the dinner event. A few NANC business partner representatives participated in this gathering; they actively talked to the alumni, and exchanged many ideas with each other in various fields of business profession.
Not only the new Chinese students, but also the prospective Dutch exchange students attended the dinner event, they were invited by their fellow NANC Dutch alumni and friends, who currently live in Shanghai. They exchanged information and experiences with Chinese students and NANC alumni concerning about Study in China. The dinner event turned out to be a big success!
The new NANC alumni officer paid a first visit to Shanghai for organizing this alumni event. A lot of ideas for all kinds of alumni events have been discussed with NANC members at the event. It is expected that more alumni events will be organized in the area in the coming future. Local business community has also shown great interest of organizing a joint business event in the coming period. With more than 350 alumni residing in Shanghai, certainly more interesting alumni activities will be arranged.
