'Welcome to study in China' – NANC alumni gathering

There have been a few briefing events arranged last few years with purpose of providing large amount of valuable and practical information to students who come to study in China upon their arrival. This year, NANC organized an alumni gathering on the 18th of September in Beijing. It was prepared tat the Royal Dutch Embassy named ‘welcome to study in China’.
A group of 25 Dutch students consisting of 21 Leiden alumni and 4 alumni of Hogeschoo Zuyd, who came to China through Nuffic fund, were warmly invited. All NANC alumni from these two institutes were also warmly invited to attend this gathering. There were a few Chinese students, who have got a Neso Certificate and will go to study in the Netherlands in January 2009, made very good talks with each other too. Besides, some Dutch students currently doing internships in Beijing exchanged their living and working experiences with each other; a group of Holland-returned scholars kindly explained the living tips to the Dutch students.
Mr. Gerard Steeghs, Deputy Ambassador, did a welcome speech; he expressed his proud on these students, and the prospective support from the embassy. Mr. Jacques van Vliet, director of Neso China, welcomed all new students, they talked about the role of Neso China and the on-going campaign ‘’Study in China” as well as ‘Wilweg’. He sincerely wished all Dutch students a very memorable study period in China, and wished all the Chinese students a priceless study life in the Netherlands.
This gathering not only provided a good communication platform, it also offered a good opportunity for expanding their personal network. Twenty one students have registered for NANC membership after this event, all had a very cheerful evening!
