11 Mar 2009
The China International Education Exhibition Tour 2009 is being held from 28 February – 15 March in five import cities in China. This annual fair is now its 14th consecutive year and has established itself as a core feature on China’s international academic event calendar. Over 400 colleagues and educational institutions from nearly 30 countries and regions participated in this exhibition.

The Holland Pavilion which is featured by its typical orange color and unique design attracted the attention of many visitors. The pavilion this year consists of 18 Dutch universities in addition to Neso. It is also the one which received the highest number of Dutch participants which shows the importance that they put on China.

During the already finished fair in Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai, over 60,000 visitors came to the exhibition and looking for the latest policies and information about studying abroad. Among country pavilions, the Holland Pavilion is one of the most attractive areas which welcomed around 5000 visitors in total.
As Holland has established a strong position in education promotion in China, Mr. Rudolf Bekink, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China is invited as the key note speaker in the summit forum during the fair to introduce the Sino-Dutch cooperation. The ambassador then visited the Holland pavilion in Beijing, and he spoke with all the participants and paid special attention to the booth of the University of Groningen, his alma mater.

Many popular local and national media thronged to take the interviews with Neso and Dutch universities before and during the event. The Orange Tulip Scholarship initiated by Neso China and the new Admission Scheme for highly educated persons issued by the IND became the most often asked questions at Neso booth. However, Neso China and some Dutch universities also arranged a few seminars during the exhibition to promote the advantages of study in Holland from various aspects.

Based on the previous feedback, Neso China has improved its services on the Holland Pavilion. Besides the continuous efforts to design and decorate an eye-catching area with a good location, Neso also try to make more agreeable working condition to the participants, such as the internet access, the drinks and foods supplied at the lounge room. In addition, in cooperate with the Dutch embassy and the consul general in Shanghai and Guangzhou, a pre-exhibit briefing and two welcome dinners are organised.

From the participants’ evaluation that we have received so far, most of participants are very satisfied with the preparation and organisation work as well as the onsite supports from Neso China. They also highly comment the quality and the quantity of the students to their booths. Finally all of them said that they would continue to join this event and come to meet more Chinese students next year!
