Meeting of representatives of Dutch Higher Education Institutions in China

16 Nov 2009

The meeting is scheduled for December 1, 2009 at our office in Beijing. This is the first time that we hold such a meeting, an opportunity for us to know each other, to share our experiences and to explore the possibilities to build joint forces and resources.

With increasing attention, put on the Chinese market, more and more Dutch Higher Education lnstitutions have sent a representative to China, either in cooperation with local partners or by establishing their ownstandalone office.
At this moment we have identified 5 research-university representatives (Erasmus, Groningen, Twente, Maastricht and Wageningen) and 2 representatives of universities of applied sciences (Inholland and Hanze).
The promotion of separate universities has been enhanced in various ways, however, the communication between these local representatives is rather minor.

We expect that this meeting will be helpful to build a Chinese community of Dutch universities, and hopefully establish a permanent platform to facilitate the exchanges between the universities, as well as with the Dutch embassy and Neso China.

The meeting is planned on December, 1 at 16:OO. The programme focuses on the networking through the self-introduction of participating representatives, while discussions about a potential (and informal) Dutch University Union will follow. More communication is also possible during the dinner, hosted by Neso China, after the meeting.
